BBC Scotland interview: fifth anniversary of smoking ban
Lynn Adams pointed out that smokers are part of society,... really? ......That's a new one on me! Back in 2005 before the smoking bans were introduced perhaps?
I thought that smokers were excluded from everything going on as they are made to stand outside in all weather.
What she should have said, is that smokers are excluded from society.
I don't agree. In saying are part of society, she was suggesting changes in the laws that exclude them. I am delighted that people can still say that smokers are part of society. It means they are rejecting attempts to 'denormalise' smokers. I listened to this, and what I found astonishing about it was how genteel everybody was, how restrained.
