STV covers Greek smoking ban rebellion

Although the Scottish media didn't report the abortive bill by David Nuttall MP last week, they couldn't resist the Greek rebellion.

(We seem to be a little short on Scottish smoking ban news today: even ASH Scotland only had three stories, one of which was the Greek rebellion. Another was a story about scanning fingerprints as a method of age verification in shops, no online stories to link to, and the third was an appreciation of an anti-smoking Edinburgh couple who were co-founders of ASH Scotland.)

"Most bars and many restaurants have silently ignored the ban, which went into effect on September 1, allowing customers to puff indoors after initially removing their ashtrays."

On Monday they went one step further, openly declaring their refusal to comply despite threats of fines and revoking of licenses."

If only the SLTA ,other Trade bodies and their members had done the same in Scotland it would have been a different picture.
